Our purpose
Tracklist India is an independent Indian music publication. We report on music made in India and by Indian artists across languages, genres and scenes, from film music to independent releases. Our editorial decisions are made by our editorial team on the basis of news value and our readers' interests.
Code of Ethics
We follow the Code of Ethics for publishers of news and current affairs content set out in the Appendix to the IT Rules, 2021, including the Norms of Journalistic Conduct of the Press Council of India, and the Programme Code where it applies to video. In practice this means:
- Accuracy: we check facts before publication, attribute claims to their sources and link to those sources where we can.
- Fairness: we give people a fair chance to respond to significant criticism before publication.
- Independence: commercial considerations do not decide what we cover or what our reviews conclude.
- Respect: we avoid content that is obscene, defamatory or that promotes hatred against any community, and we take particular care when reporting on children, health and personal tragedy.
Sourcing and quotes
We attribute quotes plainly and say when a quote comes from a press statement or a wire service. We never invent quotes or imply that an interview took place when it did not. Each article lists its sources at the end.
Reviews
Reviews are descriptive write-ups by the named critic. We do not give ratings, stars or scores. Artists, labels and publicists do not see reviews before publication.
Commercial relationships and disclosure
Tracklist India may have commercial relationships with some artists or rights holders we cover, and such coverage is disclosed. Where a story involves a party we have a commercial relationship with, we say so clearly at the top of the story. Sponsored or paid content is always labelled, and is described in our Affiliate and Advertising Disclosure.
Gifts, access and travel
Our writers may accept review copies, accreditation and access that are normal in music journalism. If travel or accommodation for a story is paid for by a third party, we disclose that in the story.
Conflicts of interest
Contributors must declare any personal or financial interest in the subject of a story to an editor before work begins. Where a conflict cannot be managed, the story is reassigned.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and transparently. See our Corrections Policy.
